Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based model that has been a part of Delaware for the last 30 years. PAT provides optimal early development, learning and health of young children by supporting and engaging their family. It is a statewide program serving children birth through the age of five focusing on school readiness. The goals for the program are to increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and increase children’s school readiness and success. Bring your little one every Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. For more information please call the library at 302-629-2524.

Read aloud to a furry, friendly therapy companion to help inspire a love of reading. Readers of all ages and stages are welcome. We are partnering with PAWS for People and local family “teams” to bring your children opportunities to read to dogs! Reading to an animal is a great experience for struggling readers; a nonjudgemental listening ear contributes to confidence and excitement for reading. PAWS teams are trained in this literacy support program and work with kids in schools and libraries who are struggling or reluctant readers. Every Monday from 4:30 to 5:30. For more information please call Carla at 302-629-2524.
